Utica City Schools Unite for Pajama Day in Support of Sleep in Heavenly Peace
The Utica City School District is proud to announce its district wide participation in a heartwarming initiative to support the Utica Chapter of the National non-profit organization, Sleep in Heavenly Peace. On November 21, 2023, students, faculty, and staff from across the district will come together for a special “Pajama Day” event, showcasing Sleep in Heavenly Peace’s dedication to their slogan “no kid sleeps on the floor in our town”.
The Utica Chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace started in late 2021 and is volunteer based. Sleep in Heavenly Peace hosts “build” events, and since their inception their team has hand crafted 1,200 bunk and single beds. Sleep in Heavenly Peace mobilizes delivery volunteers to get their beds out to children in our local community. "Every child deserves a safe and comfortable place to lay their head at night. With the unwavering support of our community, the Utica chapter of Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) strives to ensure that no child sleeps on the floor, because every child deserves a bed of their own,” said Bill Gagnon, president of SHP Utica.
He added, “We hope you all enjoy your day in PJs, knowing that your support brings us closer to ensuring that every child can dream in a safe, cozy bed."
Participants in the Pajama Day event are encouraged to wear their favorite pajamas to school, fostering a sense of unity, and to raise awareness for the Sleep in Heavenly Peace mission. Sleep in Heavenly Peace believes that every child deserves a good night’s sleep and a place to call their own.
