UCSD and the Oneida-Herkimer-Madison (OHM) BOCES participated in New York Food Day on Thursday, September 14, 2023. School kitchens served a menu featuring New York grown, processed and produced items! This is the first New York Food Day of the school year for OHM BOCES Food Service Program, and the first of its kind in the Utica City Schools. The OHM BOCES Food Service has purchased and featured New York State foods on its menus since 2010.
The menu for that day featured local, all-beef hot dogs; New York State corn on the cob, watermelon and milk; and New York-grown and certified chocolate chip cookies, made in Waterville.
“Supporting New York State agriculture and giving students an opportunity to eat locally grown food continues to be a priority of the OHM BOCES Food Service,” said Director of Shared Food Services Kate Dorr. “We are excited to collaborate with Utica City Schools and hope to engage other local districts in additional cooperative services and Farm to School opportunities in the near future.”
