On October 18, 2024, the Utica City School District partnered with SUNY Polytechnic Institute (SUNY Poly) and the Manufacturers Association (MACNY), to host the second annual Women in Manufacturing Summit for 100 seniors from Proctor High School and OHM BOCES PTECH program. The event was held at SUNY Poly's campus and included external partnerships from the manufacturing sector such as Indium Corporation and Semikron Danfoss.
SUNY Poly students provided tours on campus of the Center for Global and Advanced Manufacturing (CGAM). Students also engaged with speakers and SUNY Poly students through hands-on STEM activities while touring Poly’s Additive Manufacturing Lab, Maker Space, and Project Based Learning Lab. Students toured Semikron Danfoss to learn more about their state-of-the-art development and production plant that includes cleanroom manufacturing to design, prototype, and manufacture power solutions worldwide.
Thank you to all who partnered with UCSD to provide such a rewarding experience for our students to learn more about the manufacturing sector.
