Jacqueline Woodson Visits Utica

On June 12th, The Utica Public Library hosted a field trip to Mohawk Valley Community College's Jorgensen Center for Utica City School District students in grades 5 and 6.

Students had the opportunity to hear author Jacqueline Woodson share about her career, and ask questions! Jacqueline Woodson is an innovative writer of children’s and young adult literature, and has published 43 books. Her works encourage students to become better writers and supports character education. Students from General Herkimer Elementary School created replica book covers for the event which were proudly displayed on the stage as Jacqueline spoke.

A special thank you to Dr. Kathleen Davis, Interim Utica City School District Superintendent, Chris Sagaas, Utica Public Library Director, and Randy VanWagoner, President of MVCC for supporting this amazing event for our students!
