The Utica City School District CTE Department presented to the New York State Department of Labor’s Teacher Ambassador Program at Utica’s State Office Building. Erica Schoff, Director of CTE, Michelle Hall, CTE Administrator of Curriculum and Academics, and Carly Calogero, CTE Business Department Chair, shared with the teacher ambassadors what career and technical education will look like in the Utica City School District.
The UCSD K-12 CTE initiative takes students through exposure and awareness of various career fields to project based learning modules and the completion of CTE pathways. These pathways were determined by industry needs in the Mohawk Valley. CTE students will be presented with opportunities leading to pre-apprenticeship programs, internships, earned certifications, and micro-credentials upon graduation.
