From March 7 - 10, 2025, Proctor PRHYLI (Puerto Rican/Hispanic Youth Leadership Institute) members, along with adviser, Mrs. Mónica Bravo, went to Albany to learn about leadership development, civic engagement, and democracy. This also helped them to understand government, the legislative process, parliamentary procedure, public speaking, and debating. These events were the final part of the PHRYLI program.
Over that weekend, our students successfully debated. The students had the opportunity to focus on issues that affect the Latino community, meet NYS legislators and community leaders, and collaborate with other students as they participated in a Mock Assembly Session in the New York State Capitol.
