Kernan Elementary second graders took a hands-on approach to environmental responsibility with a special visit from Cornell Cooperative!
Students learned about the importance of recycling, what materials can be reused, and how small actions can make a big difference in our world.
They also explored the science of composting and its benefits for agriculture and the environment. To bring their learning to life, students created their own mini composts using water, dirt, paper, discarded materials, and leftover food. This engaging lesson helped them see firsthand how waste can be transformed into something useful.
The Utica City School District is proud to foster environmental awareness and responsibility in our students. Great job, Kernan second-graders!
