Donovan Middle School has been fortunate to be able to have the extraordinary ENL teacher, Mrs. Gina Costantine, as part of our teaching staff for many years. With over 33 years in the UCSD, and 23 of those years being at Donovan, her retirement will be felt by all. In her role as teacher, Team Leader, and colleague, Mrs. Constantine has been an integral part of the DMS family, motivated by the progress she sees by her ENL students. When asked a few questions about her impending retirement this spring, Mrs. Costantine said she would miss making an impact on the lives of students, as well as her colleagues who have become friends, even outside of the workplace. She even shared some advice for new teachers: "Learn from veteran teachers, ask questions, seek help if you need it, and don't get discouraged. In my first few years of teaching, I was fortunate enough to have many mentors like Anita Eannace, Nadia Caleo and Mary Fusaro, to name a few." Mrs. Costantine looks forward to traveling, golfing, spending time with family and friends and overall enjoying her retirement with her husband, who is retiring at the same time. They both look forward to the arrival of their first two grandchildren this summer! The teachers, staff, administrators, students and families of Donovan Middle School and all of the UCSD, would like to thank Mrs. Gina Costantine for her energy, time and service all of these years and wish her the best during her retirement.
