Conkling Elementary School's 6th graders are getting a head start on their futures thanks to a powerful partnership with Hamilton College students through the RED program.
Twice a month, these dedicated college mentors visit Conkling to help students create comprehensive vision boards that map out potential college and career paths. The young learners eagerly research their dream professions, investigating everything from expected salaries and daily responsibilities to educational requirements and recommended schools.
This innovative collaboration goes beyond simple career exploration as students work alongside their mentors to identify necessary extracurricular activities for their chosen fields and plot out detailed educational pathways. The vision boards serve as tangible roadmaps, inspiring Conkling's 6th graders to visualize their academic journeys while developing critical research skills. The Utica City School District is proud to foster these meaningful connections that empower our students to dream big and plan strategically for bright futures ahead!
