Dynamic Duo: Albany Elementary's Social Work Dream Team

Albany Elementary is fortunate to have its very own Utica GEMs, Ms. Molina and Mr. Phelps, whose welcoming smiles brighten our hallways every day.

Having joined the Albany School team as social workers in 2023, this dedicated pair works tirelessly to address students' social-emotional needs and equip them with essential skills for success. For Ms. Molina, a Proctor graduate (Class of 2010) who once roamed these same hallways as an Albany Elementary student from kindergarten through 6th grade, her return truly represents a full circle moment in her educational journey.

Beyond their daily support, Ms. Molina and Mr. Phelps coordinate the monthly Student of the Month Assemblies, celebrating character traits through the positivity project and recognizing students who demonstrate exceptional classroom performance. Ms. Molina additionally contributes to the RED program, conducting group sessions on valuable topics, including self-esteem, conflict resolution, and goal setting.

"Social work is my passion and I'm so grateful I get to give back to my hometown in a meaningful way and in a place that has helped shape so much of who I am today," shares Ms. Molina. Albany Elementary is tremendously thankful for their "Dream Team" of Ms. Molina and Mr. Phelps!
